How to produce LPG cylinder? — The most detailed LPG cylinder production process

LPG cylinders is an important people’s livelihood supplies in many countries of the world. LPG mainly used for cooking.

As on kind of pressure vessel, LPG cylinder have its special produce process. And most countries have related standard.

Do you know how steel plate become LPG cylinder?

Now let me introduce to you.

LPG cylinder is made by carbon steel plate. There are 4 mainly parts, cylinder body, foot ring, guard ring and valve.

For a two pieces type LPG cylinder, the carbon steel plate via forming, welding, heat treatment, surface treatment, painting and testing and finally become a LPG cylinder.

The whole process are as following.

1. A roll plate via De-coiling, leveling, and circle blanking to get circles. The circles via deep drawing to form halves LPG cylinder.
2. Then after trimming, polishing, necking, punching to get halves suitable for welding.
3. After welding the valve, guard ring and foot ring, come to the most important Circumferential welding step. The quality of the C welding seam is the most important in the quality of the LPG cylinder.
4. After circumferential welding, the LPG cylinder need to relieving stress via heat treatment furnace.
5. Then go to the surface treatment step, shot blasting is necessary, zinc spraying is needed in some countries which near sea.
6. Next step is painting. Except special requirements, we equipped Electro-static painting.
7.  After drying the inside of the LPG cylinder and installing the valve, the LPG cylinder will be put into water to test the air tightness.
8.  If the tightness is OK, that means the LPG cylinder is a good one and could print related company information to sell. Here the testing do not contain the quality control testing, I will discuss in another article.
